How business days are counted
- A business day is a day that is neither a weekend day nor a public holiday in that country. A holiday on a weekend is not counted twice.
- Only nationwide holidays count. Regional (state or province) holidays are not included.
- Make-up workdays — weekend days worked in exchange for a longer break, such as China's tiaoxiu — count as business days.
- "N business days later" does not count the start date: the next business day after it is day 1, even if the start date is a day off.
- Company-specific closures (such as a year-end shutdown) are not included.
- Official
- Matches the government’s official announcement or data
- Rule
- Computed from the legal rules (not yet checked against official data)
- Estimated
- Not yet announced, or depends on moon sighting and may change
Weekends by country
Most countries rest on Saturday and Sunday, but much of the Middle East takes Friday and Saturday, and Iran only Friday. The calculator uses each country's own weekend.

Countries with make-up workdays
Some countries move working days onto weekends to create longer holidays (China's tiaoxiu, Russia, Vietnam and others). Those weekend days count as business days.
The same calculation for AI and APIs
